BRP Gregorio del Pilar Battleship Arrives

Dubbed as the largest and most capable combat vessel of the Philippine Navy, BRP Gregorio del Pilar (PF-15) has finally arrived in the country after 33-days travel from the U.S.




The newest military acquisition of the Philippine government was previously known as USCGC Hamilton (WHEC-715) and was transferred to the Philippine Navy on May 13, 2011.

The purchase of said warship under the President Benigno Aquino III's administration was intended to strengthen and modernize the Philippine Navy and the entire Armed Forces, as well as the Philippines' stand on defending its territories and Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) along the West Philippine Sea.




BRP Gregorio del Pilar is also an official replacement of the Raja Humabon, a Cannon-class destroyer escort.
