Bagyong Mina Update (Tropical Storm Mina Update)


Bagyong Mina (Tropical Storm Mina) update as of August 24, 2011. Bagyong Mina has intensified into a Tropical Storm, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced earlier.

At 4:00 am today, Tropical Storm “Mina” was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 370 km Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes (16.1°N, 127.2°E) with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph. It is forecast to move North slowly, the weather agency added.

PAGASA has not raised any Public Storm Warning Signal.

TS “Mina” will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon and will bring scattered to widespread rains over Southern Luzon and Visayas particularly over the western section, the state weather bureau noted.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 15-25 mm per hour within the 400 km diameter of the tropical storm, it said.
