Tropical Storm Mina moves almost stationary

Tropical Storm "MINA" (Nanmadol) has maintained its strength and remained almost stationary as of 5:00 pm today, August 24, 2011, due to a tropical cyclone just outside Philippine territory, state weather forecasters said Wednesday.
In its 5 p.m. severe weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Mina was estimated at 370 km northeast of Virac, Catanduanes as of 4 p.m., packing maximum winds of 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph.
TS "Mina" is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon and will bring scattered to widespread rains over Southern Luzon and Visayas particularly over the western section, PAGASA added.
Estimated rainfall amount is from 15-25 mm per hour within the 400 km diameter of the tropical storm.
