Bagyong ONYOK Update (Tropical Storm ROKE)

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration issued a weather update Saturday, 17 September 2011, at 11:00 a.m., for Tropical Storm "ONYOK" (ROKE). The weather forecasters bureau said the tropical storm "ONYOK" (ROKE) was estimated at 850 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes (25.4°N, 129.7°E).


Bagyong Onyok has maximum winds of 75 kph with gustiness of up to 90 kph, PAGASA added. It is forecast to remain almost stationary within the next 24 hours embedded along the monsoon trough affecting Northern and Central Luzon. These weather systems are expected to bring scattered to widespread rains over the western section particularly over the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Benguet, Pangasinan and Zambales which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

Residents along these areas are advised to take all the necessary precautionary measures and watch for the next update to be incorporated in the 5 p.m. public weather forecast.
