Lea Salonga to Judge Miss Universe 2011

Leas Salonga, an Olivier, Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics and Theatre World awardee and also known worldwide as Miss Saigon, is one of the judges in the 60th Miss Universe Pageant to be held on September 12, 2011 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

This was announced by US network NBC, Donald Trump, Miss Universe Organization President Paula Shugart, and in a press statement.

Six other judges will join Salonga as revealed by ABS-CBN News report. They are racing driver Helios Castroneves, journalist Connie Chung, supermodel Isabeli Fontana, actresses Vivica Fox and Adrienne Maloof, and Miss Universe 2003 Amelia Vega.

The live coverage of Miss Universe 2011 will be aired on ABS-CBN on Tuesday, September 13, at 9:30 a.m. There's also a free-TV primetime telecast via Studio 23 the same day at 9:30 p.m. Cable channel Velvet (SkyCable ch. 53) will have a double primetime replay at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Andy Cohen and Natalie Morales are hosts of the beauty pageant and will be joined by Jeannie Mai and Miss USA 2004 Shandi Finnessy.

Reports earlier said the overall winner of the online voting will have an automatic slot in the 2011 Miss Universe pageant’s semi-finals.
